“We’ll Build An Etsako East They Said Was Impossible” — Sunny Ekpeson Unveils Audacious Development Agenda
The Chairman of Etsako East Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. Sunny Ekpetika Ekpeson, has declared that his administration is poised to redefine the frontiers of grassroots development by delivering an Etsako East that challenges the conventional perception of what a local government can achieve.
Ekpeson, who spoke on his vision for the council area, said his administration would pursue an ambitious development trajectory capable of transforming the physical, economic and social landscape of Etsako East, insisting that the people deserve infrastructure and public services that compare favourably with modern standards.
According to him, the dramatic improvement in the security situation recorded during his period as Acting Chairman has strengthened his conviction that even greater accomplishments are possible when leadership, community participation and purposeful governance converge.
“My mission is to make sure Etsako East Local Government Area has the kind of development that people would always think a local government area can not have.
“If insecurity, kidnapping, incessant killings and criminal activities could be crushed by all of us within a few months during my acting capacity, I am resolute that we will achieve more developmental strides now.”
The council chairman maintained that his administration's development blueprint encompasses multiple sectors, with education, roads, healthcare, youth empowerment and employment receiving considerable attention.
He said ongoing and planned interventions in the education sector would reflect contemporary architectural and infrastructural standards, with schools undergoing construction, reconstruction and renovation to create more conducive environments for teaching and learning.
Beyond the classroom, Ekpeson disclosed that road rehabilitation and new road construction would remain integral to the council's development architecture, particularly in improving connectivity between communities and stimulating local economic activities.
He further highlighted the provision and upgrading of healthcare facilities and equipment as another major pillar of his administration's agenda, stressing that residents should not have to travel long distances before accessing basic and essential medical services.
The chairman also placed considerable emphasis on the productive capacity of Etsako East's young population, signalling expanded opportunities for employment, skills development and economic participation.
He said the objective was not merely to execute isolated projects, but to create an integrated development ecosystem in which infrastructure, security, healthcare, education and economic opportunities reinforce one another.
