Mbappe Brace Inspires Real Madrid Rout Of Sevilla As El Clasico Looms
Kylian Mbappe scored twice as Real Madrid cruised to a 4-1 victory over Sevilla on Saturday, boosting their confidence ahead of next weekend’s crucial El Clasico showdown against Barcelona.
The French superstar was on target twice as Real Madrid maintained their pursuit of La Liga leaders Barcelona, who remain six points ahead of their arch-rivals.
Arda Guler opened the scoring in the 30th minute with a superb strike before Mbappe doubled Madrid’s advantage seven minutes later, rounding Sevilla goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos before calmly slotting home.
Sevilla attempted to respond after the interval, with Felix Correia coming close through a volley that bounced off the ground and deflected narrowly over the crossbar.
However, Madrid extended their lead when Mbappe was brought down inside the penalty area. The 26-year-old stepped up to convert the resulting spot-kick, taking his tally to 11 goals in 11 appearances across all competitions this season.
His latest brace further underlined his growing influence in Madrid’s attack as the Spanish giants prepare for one of the biggest fixtures of their campaign.
Sevilla managed a late consolation through Manu Bueno, who curled a fine finish into the bottom corner, but Madrid remained firmly in control to secure all three points.
The victory offers Madrid a timely confidence boost ahead of their October 25 meeting with Barcelona, a fixture that could have significant implications for the La Liga title race.
With Barcelona holding a six-point advantage, Madrid will be eager to produce a statement performance in El Clasico and close the gap on their fierce rivals.
