Madagascar Unveil 25-Man Squad For Super Eagles AFCON Qualifier
Madagascar have unveiled a 25-man squad for their opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash against Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
Barea head coach Corentin Martins trimmed his selection from an initial 55-man provisional squad, with foreign-based players making up the bulk of the final list.
A number of players from the Malagasy domestic league also earned places in the squad as Madagascar prepare for a demanding qualifying campaign.
The Barea will face Nigeria in their Matchday One fixture at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday, September 25.
Martins’ side will then return home four days later to take on Tanzania’s Taifa Stars in their second Group D qualifier.
The Madagascar squad is expected to begin preparations this weekend ahead of the two fixtures.
The Super Eagles, meanwhile, will be looking to make a strong start to their AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign on home soil.
Nigeria are drawn alongside Madagascar, Tanzania and Guinea-Bissau in the qualifying group, with the opening-day encounter in Uyo set to provide the first major test for both sides.
