Gov. Okpebholo, Dignitaries Receive Remains Of Late Archbishop Akubeze In Benin City
Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has  joined other dignitaries to receive the remains of the late Archbishop of Benin City, Most Reverend Augustine Akubeze, in Benin City.   

The remains were received by the Apostolic Administrator of the Catholic Archdiocese of Benin City, Bishop Donatus Ogun, alongside Catholic priests, Papal Knights and Knights of Saint Mulumba.   Archbishop Akubeze, who died on July 9, 2026, at the age of 69, served as Metropolitan Archbishop of Benin City from 2011 until his death.   

He also served as President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria from 2018 to 2022 and remained a prominent voice in the Catholic Church in Nigeria.
