Edo Govt Appoints Adetutu Owolabi Chairman, College Of Health Sciences Governing Council
The Edo State Government has announced the appointment of Dr. Adetutu Owolabi as the new Chairman of the Governing Council of the Edo State College of Health Sciences and Technology, in a move aimed at strengthening leadership and advancing excellence in health education across the state.
The appointment was approved by the Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and was contained in a Government Special Announcement dated August 18, 2026, signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq.
Dr. Owolabi brings to the position an impressive blend of academic excellence and professional expertise in nursing, public health and mental healthcare. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing, a Master of Public Health (MPH) and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Nursing.
She is also an ANCC Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, positioning her with substantial professional experience and specialised knowledge to contribute meaningfully to the development of the institution and the wider healthcare sector.
The appointment is expected to provide fresh strategic direction to the Governing Council while strengthening the college's commitment to producing highly skilled and professionally grounded healthcare personnel capable of meeting the evolving needs of Edo State and beyond.
The State Government also expressed appreciation to the outgoing Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr. (Mrs.) Imoisili Udoka, for her contributions to the institution. Government noted that she would be assigned another responsibility at a later date.
