Edo Former Speaker Blessing Agbebaku Sends Powerful Message To Constituents After His Resignation

My dear people of Owan West,

Today, I took one of the most difficult decisions of my political journey — I resigned my position as Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly.

I know this development may come as a shock to many of you. I know there will be questions. I know there will be emotions. And I know that those who have stood with me through this journey may feel disappointed, hurt or even betrayed by the circumstances surrounding today's events.

But I want you to know this: positions may change, but my commitment to you has not changed.

Politics comes with its intrigues, interests, alliances and difficult moments. Sometimes, circumstances compel a man to relinquish a position, but no circumstance can compel him to relinquish his principles, his dignity or his love for his people.

I did not enter public service because I wanted to be called Mr Speaker. I entered public service because I wanted to serve.

And by the grace of God, together we have demonstrated what representation should look like — visible, practical and people-centred.

From our interventions in electricity and the provision and energising of transformers, to road interventions, healthcare support, educational opportunities, empowerment initiatives and several other efforts across our communities, we have worked tirelessly to ensure that the dividends of democracy are not merely promises on campaign posters, but things our people can see, touch and feel.

That work will not stop because I am no longer Speaker.

My mandate ultimately comes from you, the people of Owan West, and as your representative in the Edo State House of Assembly, I remain resolutely committed to providing effective representation and standing firmly for the interests of our constituency.

To my supporters who may be troubled tonight, do not lose heart.

To our leaders, elders, youths, women and stakeholders who have walked this journey with me, stand strong.

To those who believe in our vision for a better Owan West, this is not the time to retreat. This is the time to close ranks, strengthen our bond and remain united.

Sometimes in politics, what appears to be an ending is only the beginning of another chapter.

A title does not make a leader.
A position does not define a servant.
And political intrigues cannot erase a record of service.

History will remember the offices we occupied, but more importantly, history will remember what we did with the opportunities God and the people gave us.

I therefore ask for your continued prayers, your understanding and, above all, your unwavering support.

We have come too far together to be distracted now.

I remain your son.
I remain your brother.
I remain your representative.
And I remain committed to Owan West.

Our journey continues.
Our vision remains alive.
Our commitment remains unshaken.

The best chapters of our story are still ahead.
