Edo ALGON Chairman Sunny Ekpeson Leads Council Chairmen to Abuja as Grassroots Leaders Rally Around Renewed Hope Agenda

ABUJA — The Chairman of Etsako East Local Government Council and Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Edo State Chapter, Rt. Hon. Sunny Ekpetika Ekpeson, has led his fellow Edo local government chairmen to Abuja for a national conference focused on deepening grassroots governance and translating the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda to the local level.

The conference, holding from September 22 to 24, 2026, at the Banquet Hall, State House, Abuja, is organised by the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs in collaboration with the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON).

The theme of the conference, “Cascading President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to the Grassroots,” affirmed the importance of strengthening coordination between the Federal Government and local government authorities in delivering development closer to the people.

Ekpeson’s participation comes shortly after the inauguration of all 18 elected local government chairmen in Edo State, where he led his colleagues in reaffirming their commitment to collaboration and people-centred administration.

Recall that the Edo ALGON chairman, Sunny Ekpeson has in recent weeks been associated with efforts to strengthen coordination among the state’s 18 local government councils, with reports highlighting his role in bringing the chairmen together around a common grassroots development agenda.

With grassroots governance taking centre stage, the Abuja conference signals a renewed call for local government leaders to turn national policy direction into practical development at the community level.
