Bauchi Police Arrest 19-Year-Old Housewife Over Alleged Attempt To Poison Husband
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old housewife, identified as Aisha Musa, over an alleged attempt to poison her husband in Gwamma Village, Bauchi Local Government Area.
According to the police, the incident occurred on August 12, 2026, barely 40 days after the suspect’s marriage.
In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, the suspect allegedly introduced a poisonous substance into her husband’s meal.
The police said a distress call from a woman in the Wunti Dada area prompted operatives of the ‘C’ Division, Tafawa Balewa Estate, to respond to the incident.
The victim was subsequently rescued and taken to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where he is receiving treatment and was reported to be in stable condition.
The suspect was arrested and, according to the police, allegedly made a confessional statement during interrogation.
Police officers also recovered an empty bottle suspected to have contained the poisonous substance, as well as remnants of the meal, which were registered as exhibits.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough investigation.
The police said the suspect would be charged to court after the investigation is concluded.
The Command urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
