AFCON 2027Q: Madagascar Arrive Uyo For Super Eagles Clash
Madagascar’s Barea have arrived in Uyo ahead of their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying showdown with Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
The 28-man delegation touched down at Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, at about 2:05 p.m. on Monday before heading to their hotel after completing immigration formalities.
More members of the Madagascar contingent are expected to join the team in Uyo on Tuesday as preparations intensify for Friday’s opening Group fixture.
The Barea, coached by Corentin Martins, will take on the Super Eagles at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, in a Matchday One encounter.
Following the clash with Nigeria, Madagascar will return home to host Tanzania’s Taifa Stars in their second qualifying fixture four days later.
The Barea will be hoping to draw inspiration from their last meeting with Nigeria, when they stunned the Super Eagles 2-0 in a group-stage encounter at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Nigeria, meanwhile, will be looking to avoid another setback against Madagascar as they begin their campaign for a place at the 2027 AFCON.
