AFCON 2027Q: CAF Names Ethiopian Officials For Guinea-Bissau, Nigeria Clash
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed a team of Ethiopian match officials for Tuesday’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash between Guinea-Bissau and Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
The Group L encounter is scheduled for the Estádio Nacional 24 de Setembro in Bissau, with kick-off set for 4pm local time, 5pm Nigerian time.
Tewodros Mitiku will take charge as the centre referee, while his compatriots Fasika Biru Fasika and Tigle Belachew have been named first and second assistant referees respectively.
Manuhe Woldetsadik will serve as the fourth official.
Senegalese Yaya Balde has been appointed match commissioner, while former FIFA referee Papa Bakary Gassama of The Gambia will serve as referee assessor.
The Super Eagles head into the encounter on the back of a 2-1 victory over Madagascar in their opening Group L fixture.
Guinea-Bissau also made a winning start, defeating Tanzania’s Taifa Stars 2-0 to move top of the group on goal difference.
With both sides level on three points, Tuesday’s meeting in Bissau promises to be an important early test in the race for qualification for the 2027 AFCON tournament.
