Former Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, has urged Nigerians to give President Bola Tinubu another term to complete the economic reforms initiated by his administration.
ย
Lalong made the call on Thursday at a national summit of former presiding officers of state Houses of Assembly in Abuja, where the forum endorsed Tinubu for a second term in the 2027 presidential election.
ย
He acknowledged the economic difficulties associated with reforms, particularly the removal of petrol subsidy, but argued that the government should be allowed time to translate macroeconomic stabilisation into improved living standards.
ย
Lalong said the next phase should focus on investing resources freed by the reforms in agriculture, manufacturing, infrastructure, education, energy and technology.
ย
He also called for stronger legislative oversight, fiscal responsibility and greater investment in human capital, security and social protection.
ย
The former governor said the reforms required patience while urging government to ensure that economic gains translate into shared prosperity for Nigerians.
